Included among the bestsellers list, Cecilia ahern has time and again proved her sense of portraying a fictious meaningful story in a funny and candid manner.
The story revolves around the ignored wasted away life of a 29 year old Lucy Wilchester . The author has thrown light over the various poignant shades of her life which just needed to be touched upon. As Cecilia has rightly used the phrase by and again- piling away the heaps and heaps of garbage under the carpet of life doesn’t change the mess of one’s life.
Lucy’s character is portrayed to be of a girl with a pure heart having complete absence of knowledge of maintaining any sort of relationship in her so called “miserable” life, whether it would be as a daughter, as a sister, as a soul mate, or even as a friend. Unable to cope up with the twists and turns of her life, she finds an easy way out. she keeps her blind patch on for all the problems by first shoving them aside. This attitude made her even more anxious and restless.
She was in a dire urgency of some life saving guidance to her soul for helping her decrease the turbulence of her rollercoaster type crazy life.
And then a person from life agency sent on Lucy’s parents’ persistence enters Lucy’s life and helps her to steer her life back on track. He forcefully frees Lucy from her habit of continuously telling lies. He made her understand that her life is a cobweb of her own lies in which she is stuck so badly. A small lie leads to and another bigger one in order to hide the former. It’s a vicious cycle. Based on ‘one lie one truth revealed’ rule ,Lucy’s vision towards her life changed as all her relationship problems were sorted out as she was enlightened by the fact that everyone wants to be served with truth, in its pure serene unaltered form because lies may appear to be as sweet butter but on realization , it pierces the heart irrevocably.
Her ‘LIFE’ completely removed the self made blindfold on Lucy’s life and even forces her to set things right in her life and that too in the right manner. She undoes her wrong turns and removes the hazy mist of her life to have a clear view of the upcoming options.
In the book, the character of ‘life’ is portrayed in a multifashion manner. Depending on the readers’ mindset, the person interprets ‘life’. Someone may find their soul mate in ‘life’, some may consider it to be their inner voice or spiritual guide guiding them across all walks of life. The best thing about the book is that every time one reads it, it adds another sparkling meaning to our life.

a hugely enjoyable book! very unpredictable things happen which make this story so interesting, love the mixture of sadness and humor. This is another of my top favorite book's by Cecelia Ahern. Love the characters development throughout the book and her search for self when sorting her life out. Highly recommend this to anyone! Great read!

This is the second book I read from this author (the first one I read was “Thanks for the memories”) and I loved both of them. This time, the narrator of the story is Lucy Silchester, a woman who doesn’t like her job, has a difficult relationship with her own family, drives an old car that she loves and doesn’t want to get rid of, and lives in a small apartment with a hermaphrodite cat. She found herself in the middle of lies which seemed little at the time but now have grown into gigantic proportions and she thinks she can do nothing about it. She receives a letter (and after the first one, she receives lots of letters) to an important meeting she tries to avoid at first, but she can’t run away from it. The result: a funny adventure through this woman’s every-day and past stories and decisions, and a little help of someone really special to fix the mess she’s got herself into. Again, I loved the way Cecelia Ahern writes, easy to read, funny, magical.

I don't often get time to read a lot but that is never an issue when it comes to Cecelia's books! I took The Time of My Life with me on holiday to Greece in June. Got lost in this book whilst relaxing by the pool and had finished it within a matter of days. Absolutely inspiring story - so imaginiative and original. I found myself having to pause and think about my own life after reading this story. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a story which targets so many emotions.

I bought this book by chance a few weeks ago and read it quite quickly. I think the plot is really original and I love the fact that everyone one around her is not so surprised with the fact that one can have their Life materialized as a person.
I really liked the book, but there is just one thing that I think did not make real sense... Lucy is supposed to be a professional translator, but it is repeatedly mentioned in the novel that she translates into French, Dutch, German, etc whereas she is Irish. The problem is that this is both very unlikely and at any rate very unprofessional. Translators translate ONLY in their native language, and all the websites of translators' associations mention this.
As a translator myself, I found this "detail" really annoying to the global coherence of the book, though, as I said, I really enjoyed it on the whole.
